Peter Georgiades

Peter Georgiades. Peter has been instructing in firearms and personal defense tactics for 30 years.  In 2005 he founded the FIRE Institute to make professional-level instruction available to people in Western Pa. at affordable cost.  An attorney by profession, he learned the art and craft of firearms instruction by working under full-time professional instructors over a period of 20 years, and by taking courses specifically designed to train instructors (as distinct from his personal training).  His formal instructor training courses include: Gunsite Law Enforcement Carbine Instructor Certification Course; Contact Defense, LLC "Contact Weapons Defense Instructor" training program (Steve Tarani); Marksman's Enterprise 3 day instructor courses (carbine and pistol); Stock Brothers (Giles Stock) 3-day Instructor Training; Arizona CCW Instructor Qualification course (CCW instructor certificate No. 8769268), and the NRA instructor certification programs NRA (rifle, pistol, shotgun and personal protection).  Peter does not accept personal remuneration for his training services, as he believes a profit motive tempts program providers away from teaching and toward selling.

Peter has tried cases involving self-defense and firearms law, and has lectured on the legal aspects of civilian use of firearms.  He has also authored several articles on personal firearms tactics and technique. He is ranked Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Kodokan Judo, and has been a successful competitor (medalist at USJA Senior National Championships in 2005 and 2007; Gold Medalist at the Pennsylvania State Open in 2010 and 201), and is certified as a regional-level referee.
